Banyan Tree Seychelles
Seychelles' most picturesque bay
Banyan Tree Seychelles
You’re not the first person to eye out the spectacular beauty of Intendance Bay. Peter Sellers (Pink Panther) and George Harrison were mesmerised by the perfect half moon bay and lush verdant hills rising off it, that they bought a property here in the 70s, right where Banyan Tree is standing now. Holiday like the stars and pick one of the 60 villas scattered across the hillside to be your luxury pad for your Seychelles retreat. Each spacious villa has its own private swimming pool and sundeck, private open-air dining area and butler service.
At the lodge
Situated on the western side of island, Banyan Tree Seychelles is perfectly located for golden sunsets right in front of your villa. You can head to gourmet restaurants and bars straight off the beach, such as La Varangue Bar for a light snack and cold beverage. All the public areas are built from wood, creole style with pitched roofs, sliding windows and long shaded verandahs. The communal infinity pool overlooks the bay and beach and is so picturesque it has been featured in many international magazines. Just a note, the bay isn’t always ideal for swimming and can get quite rough from May to September.
The 60 one and two-bedroom private villas are fit for royalty. Some are situated on the beach and the rest are strewn across the palm-forested slopes. The Intendance Bay View Pool Villas, live up to their name and offer a surreal view of the beach and also comes with an outdoor jacuzzi. If you want to be near the shore book a Beachfront Pool Villa, which is only a few steps from the beach and has a private pool with jacuzzi. The Ocean View Pool Villa is a one-bedroom villa which comes with an infinity swimming pool flowing over granite boulders, an outdoor jet pool and steam room and a second private pool.
The Banyan Tree is quite remote and ideal for sun lizards looking for some serious down time. If you’re feeling active there is a tennis court and gym. Head further down the beach to the Rum Shack and sample some local rum and fresh fish off the barbecue. The hotel can arrange for transfers or car hire if you want to explore some of the highlights of Mahe such as the markets of Victoria, the National Botanical Gardens or some of the neighbouring beaches. If you’re looking for something a little different during your stay, beachfront dining can be arranged as well as a private barbeque at your villa - a great way to end a sunny day at the beach.
