Baraza Resort and Spa offers stunning facilities for guests to enjoy a range of watersports, a comprehensive spa with a lap pool and tennis court, cooking classes, cultural excursions and all on the most stunning stretch or Zanzibarian beach. Baraza showcases a fusion of Arabic, Swahili and Indian designs and rooms are adorned with beautiful antiques, handmade furniture and intricate brass lanterns. A gorgeous coral reef stretches along the coast, providing safe waters for swimming, snorkelling or kite surfing. This reef also ensures the finest powder white sand beach.

The hotel

All the Zanzibari furniture in Baraza is handmade by local artisans and combined with some beautiful antiques this gives a feeling of staying in a traditional Sultan's Palace. Baraza has a range of terraces, bars and restaurants where the head chef designs menus which feature the very best produce that the island has to offer. Inspired by Indian, Swahili and Asian influences using all the spices for which Zanzibar is famous.

The rooms

Baraza has 30 luxurious villas which are located either on the beach or in the gardens, they have one or two bedrooms and all have a plunge pool with a large private terrace. Complete with TV, DVD, music system, mini bar and tea/coffee making facilities, the villas create a relaxing private space for guests to enjoy.

Experiences

The Water Club is Baraza's water sports centre located just 300m from Baraza on the Bwejuu beach front. They provide a great selection of new equipment and instruction in wind surfing, kite surfing and sailing. You can also borrow a bike to cycle down the beautiful white beaches of the east coast, or take a trip out to the reef to explore the marine life with snorkel, mask and fins. Cultural trips to Stone Town are a recommended excursion during your stay here.

Wildlife


In the gin-clear ocean around Zanzibar, marvel at bright corals with over 450 species of tropical fish, octopus, stingrays, moray eels, green turtles, hawksbill turtles, dolphins, humpback whales, and if you are very lucky: whales sharks and manta rays. In the coastal forests, spot the colobus and Sykes monkeys, bush babies, more than 50 species of butterfly, as well as brilliant bird species.
