Blue Gum Estate

Exquisite private estate with a relaxed country feel and fine cuisine

Blue Gum Estate

Blue Gum Country Estate is a family-owned and run working farm in an idyllic country setting a short drive from the picturesque village of Stanford. The farm dates back to the early nineteenth century, and the feel is one of traditional English country living in beautiful surroundings, with a variety of accommodation in the Manor House itself, and self-contained cottages within the gardens. Guests are invited to make themselves completely at home and explore the rolling vineyards, olive groves and surrounding fynbos-clad mountains. It's a tranquil and homely spot, with a wealth of attractions all within easy driving distance.

The hotel

The Manor House is a low gabled typically Cape Farm-style house with huge windows overlooking the manicured gardens. Shared areas include a vast library and lounge with an open fireplace, bar area, two restaurants, a swimming pool and sun terrace. Country-inspired décor features comfortable couches, floral designs and a warm inviting laid-back atmosphere. Exceptional food is served in the family-friendly Barke Restaurant or out on the terrace, with a more formal dinner option in the adults-only Blue Gum Restaurant.

The rooms

The delightful accommodation has a classic English country style throughout, with soft natural colours, comfortable furniture and the warmth of wood underfoot, and all are en-suite. Five luxurious Manor House suites in the original homestead have private verandas opening out onto the grounds, and some have interleading rooms. Two romantic honeymoon suites have open fireplaces, double baths and showers, and a private veranda or garden. A further five cottages, some with two bedrooms, are perfect for families.
