Jaci's Safari Lodge

A luxury safari getaway in the magnificent Madikwe Game Reserve

Jaci's Safari Lodge

Jaci's Safari Lodge is a luxury safari getaway in the magnificent Madikwe Game Reserve, one of South Africa's top private game reserves. Eight spacious tented suites with thatch roofs and canvas panels that roll up at night, allow one to be immersed in nature during the day, and make for an exclusive African safari experience. The lodge offers game drives and a variety of other safaris, gourmet meals, and spa treatments. Children are also accommodated and entertained and they are allowed to go on game drives too, making Jaci's Safari Lodge one of the most child-friendly lodges in South Africa.

At the lodge

The hotel

The public areas have a glorious African ambience. The main lodge where the informal check-in and check –out processes take place is bright and colourful and overlooks a small stream. It is also where meals are usually served. A large fireplace and a circular fire pit will keep guests warm on cool evenings. The swing bridge that one crosses when entering and leaving the lodge makes one feel like Indiana Jones. Facilities include a swimming pool and an outdoor gym.

The rooms

Jaci's Safari Lodge has eight tented-style suites decorated in vibrant colours and designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Each suite boasts a soft and luxurious bed, an expansive stone bath, a private outdoor shower and a suspended viewing deck from where one can watch the wildlife. Two are exclusive suites which sleep families of six and eight, and feature a private plunge pool and deck as well as a private game drive vehicle.

Experiences

Activities include a variety of safaris, including game drives, bush and river walks, birding, conservation and photographic safaris. There are two hides, Jaci’s Star Bed, a four-poster bed on top of a hide, where guests can enjoy a night out in the wild, and the Terrapin Hide, which is in the centre of a water-hole and is accessible via an under-water tunnel. Both offer great photographic opportunities. A games room and swimming pools will keep the young ones entertained.

Wildlife

Madikwe Game Reserve lies on a transition zone with a mix of Kalahari thornveld, denser bushveld and open savannah areas providing the perfect habitat for an abundance of species including the famed Big Five, with both black and white rhino present. The not-to-be-missed wildlife specials for this region include brown hyena, sable antelope and gemsbok. However, the real highlight for Madikwe is its resident pack of wild dogs, providing exciting moments on the hunt.
