Tent in style and let the magic of the Serengeti unfold
Set close to the mighty Mara River in the northern Serengeti, it is prime locations for access to the exclusive Lamai wedge and front row position to the migration. Sayari is one of Asilia’s larger permanent tented camps. That said, its layout and location ensure the camp maintains an air of exclusivity and intimacy. Built on raised wooden platforms on top of a hill with with rolling panoramic views, you’d be hard pressed to picture a more idyllic place from which to enjoy Africa or the Great Migration. Plus, peak migration season aside, it’s still a winner for year round wildlife.
At the lodge
Extremely comfortable and well appointed, Sayari possesses a modern, edgy feel. The camp has been cleverly split into nine and six tents. There is one dining-come-lounge area per camp section, ensuring a spacious feel, while a communal fire for the whole camp maintains a social atmosphere. Floor to ceiling windows make the most of the incredible surroundings, and natural hues paint a soothing ambience. Dotted around the camp are unique places to relax, including a spillway shade seat beside the swimming pool.
Sayari Camp has fifteen stylish en-suite hillside rooms, including an indulgent honeymoon suite. The tents are about as luxurious as tents get - we’re not even sure the word tent is appropriate. Built on raised wooden floors, with generous windows, they are well spaced with loads of privacy. Each suite’s spacious bathroom is equipped with a shower and a large egg-shaped bath. Expect everything you could possibly need in a room.
Sayari Camp offers the opportunity to experience the wilderness in a number of ways. Game drives lead by friendly, experienced guides will fill you in on the little secrets of the bush, while guided walking safaris (a rare occurrence in the Serengeti) allow you to see the subtleties often missed from a vehicle. Dining out in the bush is an experience unbeaten by any restaurant in the world, while cultural visits to the local community will leave you feeling warm and welcomed by Africa’s smiling people.
