Welcome to the ultimate wetland paradise
Xigera (pronounced Keejera) is a relaxed, solar-powered camp that is situated on Paradise Island, in a remote part of the Moremi Game Reserve, in the Okavango Delta. Surrounded by a multitude of deep, clear, permanent waters, Xigera epitomises a true wet Delta experience. It is a birders’ paradise and the best place to see the elusive sitatunga antelope. Its palm-dotted islands and lush riverine forests transport visitors to a place of peace and unrivalled relaxation.
At the lodge
The thatched main area, which overlooks a flowing channel, has a lounge with a small library, a curio shop, a large well appointed bar with tall stools, a banquet styled dining area, a refreshing plunge pool, and a boma where weekly traditional meals are held. There is also a quiet area just in front of the raised deck where guests can meet around the campfire and swap stories of the day's events.
The camp consists of ten elevated en-suite tents, including one family unit, each with a private deck, gorgeous water views, and an outdoor shower. In keeping with the unpretentious atmosphere of the camp, the tents are fairly traditional in style. Decorated with dark hard wood furniture with light soothing fabrics creating a peaceful and relaxing space.
Activities are mainly water-based - tranquil mokoro trips with highly skilled guides, short walks on the sandy shores and, water levels permitting, full day boat trips to Chief’s Island. Despite the emphasis on wetland fun, day game drives are also offered year-round. Catch and release fishing and exceptional birding can also be enjoyed.
