I was overwhelmed trying to research safari provider options on the Intranet until I came upon the Timbuktu website. I was immediately impressed with its well designed and easy to use format. The website offers incredible amounts of information on countries, nationals parks and lodges and informative guidance on everything from creating your own safari to choosing one of the Timbuktu suggested safari itineraries to weather, safari packing and vaccinations. Once I discovered Timbuktu I stopped looking at any other online options. US-based rep Kristin J was incredibly helpful. She ensured the booking, payment and logistics for my first safari in August 2019 went super smoothly and she was always responsive to any questions I had. On the ground every single connection and reservation was in place. I never had any issues traveling to/from 3 different Tanzanian national parks and onto Zanzibar. I highly recommend this company and hope to use them again for future safari adventures.

I would say the rating should be 4.75, as everything was excellent with only one minor hitch for a safari booking (that ended up working out in our favor) and perhaps a couple of preparation descriptions that could have been improved. Otherwise, Timbuktu's rep, Kristen, did a fantastic job of preparing us, and pretty much all the lodges and safari camps we stayed in were very comfortable with excellent guides, helpful friendly staff, and good food (sometimes very good). Also wanted to give a shout out to the Ultimate Safari rep, Chris, who was immediately available and helpful when we had a tire issue with our car in Namibia. Overall, I would definitely recommend Timbuktu to arrange your African adventure.

So far, we have had an excellent experience booking our trip with Timbuktu. Kristen was very knowledgeable and helped plan our itinerary. Our requirements were very specific in that we need to go to a non-malaria area, and Kristen made recommendations designed to maximize our safari experience. We don’t travel until mid-year 2020, but so far we have been very happy with Timbuktu.

Kristin worked extremely hard to plan the safari that meets our requirements. She rearranged things several times to make things just right. When there were issues with the final quote she made them right within a day. Questions were usually answered immediately and she kept us informed when we were waiting for other answers. If the trip goes as smoothly as the planning we are in for the perfect adventure.

Kristin Jessup was awesome and went above and beyond. She answered all my questions in a timely way - she even found for me the size of the safe at the hotel I was staying at so I could decide if my laptop would fit!! And everything she said, suggested or advised turned out to very helpful and true.

We were planning a honeymoon to Kenya and were at a loss until Timbuktu. The platform was incredibly user friendly, and Kristin was a pleasure to work with. She kept up to date with our itinerary and made very help suggestions and improvements to our trip. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and we would highly recommend to anyone booking a trip to Africa.
