More Quarters Residence

Staff will greet you at More Quarters and escort you to the villa, just next door. The house, with beautiful hardwood floors and high pressed-steel ceilings, is fit for Queen Victoria herself, although it's been updated with more modern touches. The large, fully equipped kitchen is separated from the dining room by a marble fireplace. The lounge opens to a pool, a shaded patio and a courtyard with gas BBQ. Upstairs a private balcony offers huge views of Table Mountain.

The four bedrooms are simply but gorgeously decorated with light tones and splashes of colour, combining the original heritage accents (yellowwood floors, pressed ceilings) with modern, minimalist style. Each room has a very special view – of the garden, the neighbourhood or, most spectacularly, the mountain. Beds can be configured as kings or twins; and the en-suite bathrooms have large showers, bathtubs and luxurious amenities. Emerge to make the most of the sumptuous breakfasts – they're part of the deal.

Make yourself at home – there's plenty to see and do. The concierge at reception will happily arrange excursions, so ask what sights they recommend. But with everything Cape Town has to offer, you can hardly go wrong. Explore the mountain and the botanical gardens at Kirstenbosch; head to Cape Point along dramatic Chapman's Peak; taste world-class wines in Constantia, Franschhoek or Stellenbosch; and stroll the beaches. End each day with fine cuisine at the city's many restaurants and bars.
