Diving & snorkelling experiences

The world beneath the waves is one of kaleidoscopic creatures gliding through the clear blue, curious fish darting between reefs, and blissful, beautiful silence. Whether you're floating gently with a snorkel or heading deeper with tanks strapped on, the oceans (and lakes!) of our planet have plenty of stories to tell. Think freshwater magic in Lake Malawi, technicolour reefs in Indonesia, or the volcanic underwater drama of the Galapagos. No experience necessary – just bring your sense of awe.

Scuba dive among the coral reefs in Diani

If your dreams of the Kenyan coast include a softly ebbing surf and piercing blue waters, Diani Beach is paradise. And it happens to be one of the best places in the country to jump on a boat, put on your SCUBA gear and explore the eye-catching reefs below the surface. A haven for endangered Hawksbill and green sea turtles, you're in for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Explore colourful coral where tiny nudibranches hide and the incredible lionfish glides past - cameras at the ready! A salvaged and re-sunken wreck has become an ad-hoc reef where shoals of fish and moray eels emerge from the portholes. If you plan your journey between November and February (the best time for scuba diving), you may even spot the incredible whale shark as they migrate down the coast and make a pitstop in the shallows off Diani Beach.

Dine at sea & snorkel the waters of Weligama Bay

Set sail on a stunning, modern catamaran complete with a professional crew and a well-equipped kitchen where the chef will whip you up a delicious full breakfast. In season, there is a 90% chance of sighting blue whales and as soon as one is spotted, you’ll be invited up to the top deck or bow for the ultimate view. Head back towards Weligama Bay, for the chance to try stand-up paddle boarding or snorkelling. At around midday, the chef will serve lunch as you sail to shore.

Explore the Bazaruto Archipelago dive sites

Crystal-clear, turquoise waters, year-round balmy weather and lively reefs, Bazaruto promises dives that are out of this world. The largest island in the archipelago, Anantara Bazaruto is only a short boat-ride away from a collection of incredible scuba diving sites. PADI-certified dive masters are ready to accompany you to the location of your choice, including the famous Two Mile Reef, which has reefs that begin at 5 metres and reach depths of 22 metres. Once you break the water's glassy surface, the reefs are a hive of activity and colour. Part of a thriving marine national park, you'll be dazzled by darting shoals of fish, forests of coral, and everything from rays and reef sharks to diving pods of dolphin and the secretive dugong. Conditions and underwater visibility remain ideal all year, but the dry season months (May to November) tend to be the most enjoyable.
