The bar and living room/dining room open to a broad deck with uninterrupted views (without even a railing to mar the spectacle). The entire house sings with luxury, quality and comfort. Unlike other top-end establishments, though, Atlanticview has an endearing quirkiness in its novel artefacts, unusual upholstery, interesting art, and a glassed-in dining room ensuring views can be enjoyed whatever the weather. But we guarantee you'll be spending most of your time on the verandas – they're the absolute highlight.
The 10 rooms at Atlanticview are unique in design, offering degrees of luxury that range from presidential-grade to royal opulence. The master bedroom on the uppermost floor offers sea and mountain panoramas via a series of angled skylights, a spacious patio with loungers and large en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi bathtub and "raindance" showerhead. Five suites, though slightly smaller, are equally sumptuous, with ocean views only. Four mini-suites have private mountain- or sea-facing decks, with all the top-notch accoutrements. Treat yourself!
Where to start? Camps Bay has a glut of good restaurants along its walkable seaside strip, and world-renowned beaches, including the in-crowd's favourite, Clifton, nearby. Tour the Peninsula in your chauffeur-driven vehicle, following Chapman's Peak as it winds southwards on a cliff-clinging roadway to reach Cape Point, home to its own end-of-the-earth views and a nature reserve scattered with wildlife. Visit penguins, historic Simon's Town, the quirky fishing hamlet of Kalk Bay (great restaurants!). And, naturally, the enthralling city itself.
