Brightly coloured, traditional woven fabrics adorn all areas of this magnificent converted home. Entering into the property through stunning carved wooden doorways you are welcomed into a shady, open courtyard filled with plants and flowering pink bougainvilleas. White washed walls tower up three floors leading to spacious bedrooms and a day room and terrace that provides some wonderful extra lounging space if you are in need of private sanctuary.
The two staircases that ascend up into the house lead to five ensuite bedrooms that together sleep between nine and eleven people. Large four poster beds with crisp white sheets contrast beautifully against the clean white interiors of the rooms. Shutter windows, repurposed furniture and stylish arabic touches make you feel like a explorer of ancient days.
The little village of Shella is where you come to to get away from it all, but that does not mean you will be isolated from quaint village life. Nearby Lamu is a UNESCO World Heritage City and well worth exploring with a guide, but also take the time to enjoy the little village side streets and winding alleyways of Shella village itself. Day excursions on the water sailing, swimming or exploring can be arranged.
