Kirkman's Kamp is named in honour of W. Harry Kirkman, a famous conservationist, hunter and Kruger National Park ranger that once lived in the homestead. This lodge is a throwback to the turn of the nineteenth century, styled with colonial artwork and historic artifacts and packed with modern luxuries, ensuring total comfort and relaxation. Placed in the Southern Sabi Sands with rolling views of the inspiring African bush, encounter the incredible diversity of wildlife by vehicle or on foot.

Kirkman’s Camp’s communal areas fall within the historic Kirkman’s home. The refurbished, elegant central lounge and dining spaces are very well-appointed with neutral colours, comfortable furniture and significant artifacts from a bygone era. Each different room holds a different set of priceless treasures, whether it is a buffalo mount, an old chest high fireplace or a collection of antique rifles, there is no shortage of character here. Heading outside there is a wrap around terrace, green rolling lawns, a large inviting spillway swimming pool and boma (traditional outdoor enclosure) for evening meals.
There are eighteen suites built in keeping with the rest of the lodge. Simple in decor but very comfortable, the rooms all come with air conditioning, minibars, ceiling fans and an en-suite bathroom complete with a ball-and-claw bath, shower and porcelain basin. Outside there is a private veranda with furniture to enjoy the view with an ice cold beverage.
Kirkman’s Camp focuses primarily on game drive and night drive as its core methods of wilderness exploration. Walking safari offers exhilarating opportunity to encounter wildlife at eye level and is a far more intense experience. Bush walks provide insight and understanding of the small species, birds and reptiles not seen from the faster moving vehicle. Looking for a bit of peace and quiet, indulge in a full body massage. Finally a short drive from camp, helicopter flights are offered providing a different perspective on the landscape.
The Kirkman's guides have an intimate knowledge of the individual leopards in the area and you're almost guaranteed a good sighting of one of the resident cats.
Each room comes complete with a pair of complimentary Swarovski Optik binoculars - make full use of them and enjoy getting up close to the finest details of the bush.
Our only possible downside at Kirkman's is that it's slightly larger than some of the other lodges in the area which may comes as surprise if you weren't expecting it.
