The lodge is situated on a hilly area so there are a few uphills between the different communal areas and your tent. The best chill-out spot is around the freshwater pool where you’ll find the second bar of the establishment, as well as a restaurant and thatched area with couches so you can comfortably mark off the birds you’ve seen in your bird book. The lodge decor is basic, but it’s clean, comfortable and suits its surrounding environment.
There are four different accommodation options but we recommend either the honeymoon suite (who said you need to be on honeymoon to enjoy it) or the other tented bandas. Both are ensuite with four-poster beds, mosquito nets, a writing desk, two armchairs, canvas shelving for your safari gear and impressive views over the forest. The perks of the suite are the private outdoor shower with a special “bath seat”, the king-size bed and they have the best views.
Explore the diversity of life on the morning and afternoon game drives. Full day safaris can be arranged with picnic lunches in the bush. The lodge is situated in a tropical African forest so birdwatching between game drives is good. Keep an eye out for hornbills and the Livingstone turaco. If you’d like an authentic tour of a Maasai village then go with these guys. To work out any knots you may have brought with you, head to the spa.
