Visit Exploradores Park in Carretera Austral South

Parque Exploradores was born in 1996 with the purchase of a property immersed in a pristine evergreen periglacial forest, called: “Pampa Bayo”. At that time there was still no access road to the park. In 1997, Parque Exploradores was registered in the RAPP (Network of private protected areas) belonging to the CODEFF (Committee for the Defense of Fauna and Flora). In April 1999, the first reconnaissance visit to the place was made, with a road that entered the valley of the North River and approached Lake Bayo. Together with our neighbor Orlando Soto, who knew the place best, a zodiac navigation was carried out through Lake Bayo and the Exploradores River to access the park. In the past, to get to the Park from Río Tranquilo it required 2 days on horseback, negotiating the Norte River and Bayo Lake.
