Partnering with Jonty @ Timbuktu was excellent. While in the past I loved pouring over every detail of a trip -- sometimes time just doesn't allow that. You want to partner with someone who can take care of the busy work -- but live up to your vision of a trip. In addition their web experience is top notch. Lots of great detail easy online exploration tools, "trip building" features etc that I loved using. Kudos to the product team behind these experiences!

The Timbuktu website is excellent, allowing you to plan a customised and personal itinerary. Once completed an agent will contact you and chat about your needs and/ check the lodges/camps have availability for your dates. It's a premium service as they then engage local agents to deliver the tours. It works really well and I would use Timbuktu again. Jonty was very patient with all my thoughts and changes especially as we began the discussions in January 2000 and had to postpone until end December 2023!

Just wrapped up a 3 week rather complex adventure holiday employing the services of Jonty. Jonty was patient, informative, very timely with information and simply a pleasure to work with. Being located in the US and Jonty in South Africa he made it seem as if we were living in the same town or, he never slept. Everything worked out like a well greased machine and we could not have asked for a better or smoother holiday. What can i say about Timbuktu Travels and Specifically Jonty who helped me plan our dream trip. We were planning since Jan 2023 with someone else until May when everything was finalized and they ghosted us for few weeks . We decided to let go of them and i casually connected with Jonty to see what they had to offer. Jonty was so good and informative that i decided to plan my trip with him only and not even shop around and that what exactly happened. Jonty was really very patient and attentive to my needs , wants and requests. He answered every email and also called me every time i needed him to call me so we can talk on the phone. I also love the website and Itinerary planner and how it describes everything about you day to day activities, information on accommodations and description of the area you are visiting. Making payment was super easy and convenient. While on Ground Albertos their ground team in Kenya was very Professional and super nice. They took care of smallest thing for us even though we did not request it or not part of the plan (i.e. - taking care of our lunch after we landed in nairobi from Mara since flight was 3 hour early and we landed at lunch time instead of original plan of landing at 3pm) our drive Raphael was amazing amazing guy. So funny and knowledgeable and i would drive with him any day any where in Kenya. He made the experience well worth it as well and took care of our needs from food, drinks and other requests without any hesitation. Overall it was wonderful dream trip with Timbuktu travel. Expensive a bit but we will gladly travel with them again for our 2025 Tanzania Trip.

Je viens de finaliser mon voyage au Kenya prévu pour janvier 2024 avec Jonty. C’est un circuit sur mesure et Jonty s’est immédiatement montré disponible, réactif et impliqué. Il a su répondre à toutes mes attentes, trouver des solutions adaptées pour rendre mon voyage plus agréable et pour s’adapter à mon budget. Il a vraiment tenu compte de mes demandes avec beaucoup de sérieux et de professionnalisme. J’ai vraiment hâte maintenant d’embarquer pour Nairobi, les concervancies et la côte!!!

Timbuktu helped us to customize our trip plans for a visit to East Africa. We had some ideas about what we were looking for based on one past visit, and this time we had very specific ideas in mind. Our agent, Jonty, was extremely attentive to our preferences and requests, and made recommendations based on this. He was patient and worked through many rounds of revision in the plan, helping us weigh the pros and cons. He coordinated some custom activities on our trip based on our interest, and he also made sure we had all the logistical information. For a trip that had so many connections and moving parts, we were never in a place where we did not know what was going to happen next, and everything that Timbuktu was responsible for went off without a hitch. I know that a lot of people who are planning such a trip will look to places like Trip Advisor and other reviews to try to figure out the best way of planning, since it is not necessarily the kind of trip that you want to plan on your own. And one is putting a lot of trust in a company's hands when you are doing something that is so remote. I cannot recommend Timbuktu highly enough.

We have experienced an unforgetable vacation in Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The journey started with building up the itinarary with Jonty and his team in November last year. Finally we came to the adventure as we have had in July. Everyting was well organized. All stays, activities and travels! We saw Africa at her best!
