Some things are worth doing three times

It’s that time of year again, when the long-awaited results of the Travel+Leisure World’s Best awards are finally announced… and we can reveal that in 2026, for the third consecutive year, Timbuktu Travel has been named one of Travel+Leisure’s World’s Best Tour Operators. In fact, we are one of only six tour operators in the world to make the list three years in a row. Not many people can say that – and we’re incredibly proud that we can!

The Travel+Leisure World’s Best Awards are voted for every year by T+L’s discerning readers and, you, our wonderful Timbuktu guests – hundreds of thousands of well-travelled people who know what a good trip looks like and aren’t shy about saying so. There’s no judging panel or a committee sitting behind a desk, just real travellers who like to shout when they find something spectacular.

So, what’s behind the award? The magnificent Timbuktu team, of course! Our team of dedicated, knowledgeable travel specialists know their destinations like the back of their hands, and not from a brochure, but from actually being there. They know which hotels and lodges to visit at the best time of year (and the ones with the guides worth trusting); the best locations to put you in the heart of the action; and all the hidden-gem details that really make a trip unforgettable. Our booking experience is also designed to make planning feel less like admin and more like the trip has already started, so the fun begins from the moment you get in touch.

We know that handing over a significant trip, be it a safari, a honeymoon or a once-in-a-decade adventure, takes real trust. Being named among the world’s best tour operators for three years running is the best reminder we could ask for that it’s trust well placed.

If you’re thinking about a trip, we would love to help you plan something extraordinary. Talk to one of the team (and read more about them here), or browse the website for some inspiration, be it Latin America, Africa, Europe or Asia….
