With the recent outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and its prominent coverage in mainstream media, we understand the concerns some have in planning travel right now. We’re aware of the current uncertainty we face in regards to the virus and would like to reassure you that we at Timbuktu remain up to date and will continue to monitor the situation as it continues to develop.
Let us start by saying that the health and safety of our travellers is of utmost importance to us and we are carefully monitoring government travel guidelines across the world so we are best positioned to advise anyone who might have concerns. Our travel consultants are on hand to advise on any questions you may have regarding COVID-19 and are here to support you in any way we can. Likewise our team is always available to assist whilst you’re on your trip should you have any questions at all.
Made after 8th May 2020
Many of you are keen to start planning future trips again and we have therefore implemented a Free Cancellation Policy for new bookings. The idea is to give you as much flexibility as possible and complete peace of mind. Our Free Cancellation Policy will apply to new trips with lodges and partners we’re working closely with across Africa. Your travel consultant will reconfirm the exact policy that will apply to your trip before it is confirmed.
Free Cancellation Policy
For all new bookings made after 8th May 2020 travellers can cancel free of charge due to coronavirus restrictions up until 60 days before travel.
Subject to the following conditions
• COVID-19 travel restrictions are in place in your country of residence or destination
• Valid for travel up until the end of 2021
• Subject to the agreement of your chosen lodges at the time of booking
• Our standard terms and conditions will apply from 60 days before travel
Made before 8th May 2020
In light of the situation, some of you may wish to explore postponing your trip and many of you will have already chatted with your travel expert. We’re doing everything we can to try and give you as much flexibility as possible and we are currently negotiating with all our partners across Africa. This is a rapidly evolving situation so we will keep you updated if there are any changes.
For those that have purchased or are considering purchasing insurance for your trip, we strongly recommend that you contact your insurer in order to establish whether you are covered as a result of COVID-19. Some insurers are now excluding COVID-19 from cancellation policies, so you would not be covered if you have to cancel your trip because of something related to COVID-19. Some policies purchased before these changes are unaffected.
