The hotel is built around a pretty courtyard and an outdoor swimming pool and there are several comfy salon chairs and tables dotted around for lazy mornings (and afternoons!). Inside, there’s a well-stocked bar and the vibrant lounge is warm and cosy and even has a roaring fire for chilly winter evenings.
The 10 rooms at Abalone are calming, soothing and utterly tranquil. Crisp white linens rest on vast beds, subtle tones adorn the walls and plush bathrobes wait to be lounged in. Not all rooms have sea views or private terraces, however, and we highly recommend splashing out on a Luxury Suite or truly pushing the boat out with the Superior Suite complete with private balcony and magnificent view of the sunset.
Most attractions in Paternoster are a 10 minute stroll away and a day spent wandering the streets is well spent; dip into the local art galleries, devour fresh seafood in a beachside restaurant or search for souvenirs. If you’re feeling adventurous, quad biking, horse riding, snorkelling and kayaking can all be arranged and the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve and West Coast National Park are both a short drive away.
