The main guest area incorporates traditional African rondavel designs, with a series of rounded lounge, bar and dining areas linked together under a tapered stone-capped thatched roof. A separate library offers a quiet spot to relax, and if retail therapy is called for, the safari shop is well worth a visit. An infinity pool and sun deck offers poolside game viewing over the surrounding bush. An open-air fire pit, traditional boma and star deck turn evenings into special occasions.
Each of the eleven stone and thatch chalets has a unique style, with rustic interiors echoing traditional African building designs. Partial sections of roll-up canvas screens let in the sounds of the bush, with views from the private deck and individual plunge pool overlooking the forests or nearby waterhole. All are en-suite, with a deep bath, separate toilet, and outdoor shower. Each has a small lounge which doubles as a child’s room if required.
Twice-daily game drives offer exciting viewing of the Big 5, cheetah and abundant plains game, together with unusual species like black wildebeest, aardvark and brown hyena. Depending on length of stay, guided game drives are offered to the neighbouring Addo Elephant National Park. River cruises on the Bushman’s River are recommended, and guided bush walks offer the chance to stretch your legs and explore this ecologically diverse region at ground level.
