About Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort

Perched on a cliff above the shimmering Indian Ocean, this resort is pure, Balinese magic.
Sitting pretty along sheer cliffs on the southern tip of Bali, the Anantara Uluwatu is a series of terraced villas and suites overlooking miles of indigo ocean. Interiors are modern and breezy, and every room makes the most of its well-chosen vantage point. The views continue throughout the property and are staggering from just about every corner, including the rooftop restaurant and its lip-smacking array of Indonesian delicacies. Time it perfectly to catch the sunset as you dine... Below, you'll find Impossible Beach, which is both impossibly beautiful and superb for surfing – it's a favourite the world over.

Property details

The property

The entire resort has an open-air concept to make the most of the fresh ocean breeze and those views. At 360 Rooftop, tuck into breakfast as the waves crash below, then return for a dinner of Balinese crispy duck or succulent seafood paired with one of the cellar wines. Right at the cliff's edge, the Botol Biru Bar & Grill serves dishes from the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean, alongside cocktails and dreamy sunsets. Inspired by a traditional Balinese lumbung (stilted rice barn), the spa offers locally-inspired treatments to sooth any travel aches.

The rooms

The 73 spacious suites, villas and penthouses boast the best views on the Bukit Peninsula and are beautifully-decorated with a contemporary Balinese flair, bold artwork and plenty of polished wood. The amenities range between different room types; some have direct pool access while others have their own private pool or hot tub; some boast a dining sala and others have a private garden. The bathrooms are slick with gleaming wood and slate-coloured tiling, and a bathtub with a serious view.

Activities

There's a smorgasbord of activities and day trips to enjoy whilst at the Anantara. Take advantage of the complimentary shuttle to nearby Uluwatu Temple; it sits at 70 metres above the ocean and is famous for the traditional Kecak dance performances. Then again, you might prefer to take a Balinese dance or tai chi lesson, or opt for a cooking class to learn about regional dishes and local ingredients. There are also water sports galore, as well as spectacular diving.
