Arenas del Mar's design is kept simple with panoramic windows to showcase the show-stealing view. The Mirador boasts a catch-of-the-day menu straight from 'Dock to Dish' and a revolving team of acclaimed, international chefs prepare a roster of mouthwatering dishes. Just outside, the infinity pool (one of two) gazes over the ocean towards the lush national park. The Playitas restaurant is right on the beach with a far more casual feel, perfect for a light lunch under the palms, and a flow of cocktails or tropical smoothies delivered straight to your lounger.
Across seven forested villas, the Arenas del Mar offers a range of rooms and suites. Enormous windows let in a ravishing view of the Atlantic (although some look into the gardens) and inside, the rooms are uncluttered and airy with large, tropical prints, potted plants and honey-coloured wooden furnishings. The superior rooms enjoy a private terrace and outdoor kitchenette, while the suites boast a spacious living and dining area too - and an al fresco hot tub. The premium suites have the most fabulous view and two bathrooms. Yes please!
Make the most of Arenas del Mar's private hiking trails or head to Espadillas Beach for a surfing lesson or swim. The Manuel Antonio National Park will, of course, have your attention with its ample activities, from snorkelling, kayaking and SUPping off powder-white beaches, and trekking through the forest with the resident birdlife, monkeys and sloths. Venture out at night for translucent frogs, rare owls and eyelash vipers. For the kids, there is mask painting, beach games and movie nights.
