Lake Manyara in northern Tanzanaia is most well known for its huge flocks of flamingos and its tree-climbing lions, but there's much more that makes it well worth a visit. There's an abundance of other wildlife too, including an impressive list of more than 400 bird species and a wildly varied landscape on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, from the mahogany and acacia forests and woodlands to the grass floodplains and the lake and its shore. The best way to visit this region is to stay at the stunningly opulent Tree Lodge in the national park where luxury is a way of life and true class elevates an experience of the wilderness around you to the next level.

Ten private wooden "tree-house" chalets are set in the mahogany forest on elevated decks. The warm earthy colours and French doors exude comfort and elegance. The en-suite bathroom, separated by a long curtain, has a double basin, Victorian bath, an outside shower and lots of space. In addition to the very comfortable double bed, there is a private lounge and long wooden veranda, all with views of the surrounding forest that makes you feel a part of it.
The jungle setting is magical and soaking up the views of the surrounding forest from the comfort of your tree-house deck, bed or bath is the ultimate in (exceptionally luxurious!) R&R.
If arriving by vehicle, try and take the seldom-used southern road to the camp. As you approach the park, you'll pass small villages and the scenery is dramatic and beautiful. Quite an entrance!
Often Lake Manyara is used as a stopover on the way to or from other parks, but to make the most of all the activities (and the beautiful rooms), we highly recommend two nights here.
