The communal area of each villa is different, giving each five-star bungalow it's own unique flavour. What they do have in common are the extensive outdoor decks with plenty of communal seating, great for morning cups of tea together. Grand dining room tables take centre stage, indoors and outdoors, and one can commend the designers for pulling off unique spaces for togetherness and for solitude. The decor throughout marries the earthy and natural inspirations from the beach and island-life with nouveau chic. It’s exquisite.
There are six villas on Vamizi Island ranging from four to six bedrooms each. Wood and stone create colonial beach residents which are expansive and lavishly decorated. Each villa comes with its own swimming pool; a private butler and a chef who will ensure all your needs are met. Each villa also has a 4x4 and driver assigned to it. No bungalow is the same and the en-suite guest rooms have their own unique look and feel paying homage to the diverse cultural heritage of the atolls of Mozambique.
You may think activities are limited because you’re on a remote island after all but the following list will blow your hair back. You can go deep-sea fishing, take a dhow sundowner cruise, snorkel and scuba dive (highly recommended of course), experience a glamorous castaway picnic of magazine shoot proportions, kayak through the mangrove fringed estuary or get a deep tissue massage at the spa. Better yet, from November onwards, green sea turtles come up onto the beach to nest at night. If you’re lucky enough to be in season, you could help release hatched baby turtles. Birders packs the binos; there are over 130 different bird species.
