The centre of Blue Apple is the large pool surrounded by multi-coloured loungers - ideal for some down time with a good book - and the buzzy beach bar for soaking up the atmosphere. Another highlight is the restaurant: the head chef was trained at the Gato Dumas Institute in Bogota and brings a true farm-to-table ethos to the menu, which is bursting with fresh, locally-inspired cuisine. There is also a dedicated exercise and yoga space, which can be used for private or group activities.
The hotel has a variety of rooms ranging from standard 'cabanas' to the Premium Cabana with its outdoor bathroom and enormous stone bath tub. Entirely decorated by an in-house team, the rooms are adorned with splashes of blue, bold artwork and light-wood furnishings resulting in a look that's laidback and perfectly beachy. All rooms have beds draped in 100% cotton sheets, a coffee machine and aircon, and open onto a terrace or balcony. A favourite, the Owner's Cabana has delightful garden views and a spacious terrace with a king-size day bed and dining table.
When you're not lazing beside the pool or enjoying a spot of yoga, explore the island on horseback or motorbike, or head out on foot and stroll along the gorgeous beaches or visit a local village. For divers and snorkellers, there is a fantastic coral reef just off the coast, as well as a collection of other dive sites around the Rosario Islands. The hotel can also organise a cooking class where you can learn to make a few local delicacies.
Off the coast of Cartagena lies a collection of protected islands to rival those of your dreams.
