Camp Kwando

Right on the river, housed under three oval thatched roofs is the attractive bar, lounge and dining area. And beyond that, even closer to the river, is a round wooden viewing deck with a fire pit - a fantastic place to enjoy a drink at dusk. Amen for the swimming pool and hammocks, and the soft grass for relaxing on as the Caprivi can get up to 35°C (95°F) in summer!

There’s four different accommodation options at Kwando. If you’re keeping it real in the leafy campsite (there’s 10 spots available), look into booking a private camping area, which comes with your own outdoor shower. If you want the best views, the thatched island tent is the way to go. They aren’t massively spacious but they are clean, ensuite and have a wooden viewing deck over the river. The “luxury” tented chalets are incredibly spacious but sadly don’t have the view.

There are several ways to enjoy your game viewing here: head out on a game drive to Mudumu National Park (or an all day drive to the slightly further Bwabwata park), or take a boat or mokoro down the Kwando River and watch the hippo, crocs and elephant splashing in the cool waters. If you’re here for the Tiger fishing, book a guide beforehand. It's also possible to explore Nkasa Lupala Park in the Caprivi Strip if water levels are favourable (normally June to October).
