The guesthouse looks out across False Bay, with plenty of space both inside and out. When winter storms batter the coast, there’s a cosy lounge and bar inside, and a delightful breakfast room sheltered from the elements. In fine weather, the outdoor terrace is the place to be, and this leads down to manicured lawns surrounding the swimming pool. If you’re mixing business with pleasure, two meeting rooms offer additional space, with wi-fi in the main areas.
Thirteen spacious rooms are beautifully appointed, with elegant colonial features of the original homestead mixing beautifully with the contemporary minimalist furnishings. Most have stunning sea views though the huge windows, the loft at the very top has a private balcony, and all have vast king-sized or twin beds. A garden annex, with two rooms, a shared bathroom, and a kitchen, lounge and dining room, is a superb spot for a family or small group looking for a self-catering option.
Kalk Bay is renowned for its bohemian mix of arty boutiques and sidewalk crafts, trendy coffee shops and eateries, and the colourfully active harbour. You could easily spend a couple of days exploring the side streets and lively main strip. Yet there’s plenty to see and do on the southern Peninsula too. Outdoor adventures include hiking, mountain biking, surfing and scuba diving, and the famous Cape Winelands are within easy driving distance.
