Property details

The property

Chawani his is a comfortable family home with all the essentials. The lounge has several cushioned sofas, large floor rugs, a wood burning fire place and plenty of space. Furnishings are a little dated but they're well-maintained, and feel very homely! The kitchen and dining room are open-plan, though meals are best enjoyed on the outdoor patio, fringed with creeping ivy and illuminated by plenty of twinkling lights. In the large leafy garden you'll find colourful flower beds, lots of unobstructed lawn and a swimming pool.

The rooms

The house has four bedrooms that can sleep up to 10 people comfortably. Most rooms have a high four-poster beds draped with mosquito netting, along with small writer's desks and plenty of dresser space for belongings. Each looks out through multi-paned windows to the garden. Hot water is heated traditionally by fire, but the system is very effective and hot showers are always available.

Activities

Hikers and mountain bikers will be in heaven, with the hundred-plus miles of dirt trails to explore. Bikes are available through Huntingdon House, also located on the Satemwa Tea Estate. Tea and coffee connoisseurs will be equally delighted to explore the tea and coffee fields, learning about these precious local commodities while sampling them along the way. Otherwise, horse riding, quad-biking, clay pigeon shooting, fishing trips, and even games of croquet or boulle can all be organised with a bit of notice.
