About Cheetah Plains

Upmarket luxury in the midst of South Africa's surreal safari wilderness
Sabi Sand Game Reserve is the oldest private reserve in South Africa, sharing a 50-kilometre, fenceless border with Kruger National Park. It offers, almost indisputably, the best Big Five game viewing in the country and there are an abundance of predators. Here, tucked tastefully in the mature bush, is newly renovated Cheetah Plains, a collection of superbly stylish stand-alone homes. Expect a contemporary design, clean lines, carefully chosen natural materials and modern fixtures. This is a place that promises a luxury experience of the highest order.

Property details

The property

The new self-contained structures are undeniably glamorous and very spacious, yet they've been designed to blend in sympathetically within the bush. Inspiration from the landscape is evident in the raw, rich timbers, burnished metals, and textures and materials that have been used. The interiors are open-plan, each sectioned off into a sunken lounge, glassed alcoves and partially screened rooms. Enormous sliding glass doors open to the deck and infinity pool. Looking for high-end indulgence? It's here, in spades...

The rooms

Each home has four large suites, each with a king-sized bed and a lush ensuite bathroom complete with double basins, a rain shower for two, and a bathtub with thrilling bush views. The suites have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that open to a furnished private deck. Chill out beside the fireplace in in your private lounge, rest with a book in the second, more private, seating area, and store your treasures in your walk-in dressing room.

Activities

With each home comes access to a private vehicle and a dedicated guide meaning that you're bound to see the very best this reserve has to offer. You'll find all the safari stars leopard, lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, and hyena - and plains game are present in their hundreds! Sabi Sand is also one of the best places to witness predators hunting, with the animals following their instincts heedless of their observers. A guided birding tour is also very worthwhile – and you're in good hands here.
