About Cotton Bay Resort & Spa

The island's original resort hotel where authentic Rodriguan charm endures.
Sometimes being first has its advantages. As the island's pioneering resort hotel, this northeast coast establishment has had over three decades to perfect the art of Rodriguan hospitality – and it rather shows. Recent extensive renovations have breathed fresh life into the property while preserving that wonderfully authentic island character that made it special in the first place. The setting is quintessentially tropical: pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a secluded lagoon that seems tailor-made for lazy afternoons of swimming and snorkelling. It's the sort of place where "Service with a Smile" isn't just marketing speak – it's genuinely how things are done here.

Property details

The property

The Kono-Kono restaurant celebrates the island's culinary heritage with tantalising local flavours, while the Mont Plaisir Bar serves up signature cocktails that actually taste of somewhere rather than everywhere. The brand new 260-square-metre infinity pool commands stunning beach and sea views, with thoughtful touches like a dedicated shallow area for little ones. Ovannee Spa, tucked away in the tranquil hotel gardens, offers two treatment rooms, sauna, and hammam, plus that exclusive signature treatment infused with tropical elements. For active types, there's a well-equipped gym with garden views, plus outdoor fitness options including beachside yoga and energetic Zumba sessions. The Mini club Le Dauphin keeps young guests (3-11 years) thoroughly entertained with treasure hunts, creative workshops, and lessons about island culture – all under the expert eye of Annelaure, who clearly knows her way around entertaining children.

The rooms

The 50 Superior rooms offer elegant ocean-gazing opportunities from private terraces or balconies, while the eight Deluxe rooms provide extra space for those wanting to spread out a bit more. Two Junior Suites deliver enhanced privacy, perfect for small families, whilst the four specially designed Honeymoon rooms come with romantic touches including celebration cake, sparkling wine, and those essential matching t-shirts. All rooms embrace the island aesthetic without falling into tropical cliché territory, creating spaces that feel authentically Rodriguan rather than generically resort-like.

What you'll love

What you'll love

The authentic cultural experiences, particularly those twice-weekly traditional music and dance evenings where locals teach you the polka, kotis, and mazok to the beat of accordion and percussion. It's wonderfully unpretentious and thoroughly charming.

Insiders Tip

Take the coastal walk to St François beach early morning or late afternoon – the ocean views and spectacular blues of St François' pass are absolutely magnificent, plus you'll catch the best light for photos.
Something to think about

Something to think about

This is very much a family-friendly resort with a strong focus on local culture and traditions. If you're seeking ultra-modern sophistication or nightlife, you might find the pace here delightfully slow but perhaps too quiet.
