Glass-encased and projecting into the gardens, The Conservatory restaurant is a perfect setting to dine and imbibe the ideals of "celebration of life". The elegant room is sun-filled by day and illuminated with candle light by night. Every aspect of it has been deliberately considered, from the architecture and decor to the dinnerware, cutlery and flower vases on the tables. The west terrace often hosts pre-dinner drinks and snacks accompanied by stunning views of the valley.
All the sleeping options at De Hoek offer exceptional comfort and class - and all are just as attractive. Top of the line is the Penthouse Suite with its open-plan layout, encompassing a lounge and dining area and double doors leading on to a wrap-around balcony. Deluxe Rooms sleep two in a king-sized bed and have lovely patios that lead to the garden. Superior Suites are perfectly cosy (four of them have fireplaces) and are located on the upper-level with a private balcony. Executive Twin Rooms sit in the original manor house and have lovely deep bathtubs - they sleep two in side-by-side single beds.
Although De Hoek is well-known for its creature comforts, there are plenty of adventures to be had in and around the grounds. Take a hike through the indigenous bush and climb to the top of Olienbout Ridge for capital panoramas of the northern Magaliesburg Range. Keep an eye out for birds along the way, and the elusive Grey duiker antelope. Try your hand at a friendly game of boules in the garden, or practice your golf swing at a nearby course. Hot-air balloon rides and helicopter flips set off directly from the property, or you could indulge in a spa treatment or two and definitely – definitely – a signature five-course dinner.
