About De Hoop - Dassie Suite

Luxurious cottage overlooking the vlei at De Hoop Nature and Marine Reserve
Tucked amidst Cape fynbos, De Hoop Village lies near Bredasdorp in one of South Africa's most beautiful coastal nature reserves. Its newly renovated Dassie Suite is nestled amongst a collection of whitewashed, Cape fisherman-style suites, offering charming creature comforts and overlooking a large, tranquil vlei. De Hoop Nature Reserve and Marine Protected Area is a wilderness haven, so you will likely wake up to birdsong, and walks may yield a lucky glimpse of the Cape Otter before he dips into the water. Witness a stunning sunset from the comfort of your private verandah, while a cosy fire burns indoors.

Property details

The property

Although Dassie Suite has a bar fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities, guests will rejoice at having The Fig Tree Restaurant so close by. Stock up on self-catering supplies in Bredasdorp or one of the surrounding towns, if you prefer - but delicious meals await you at this on-site restaurant. As each day winds down, enjoy quiet moments out on the verandah, or warm your bones in the sitting room, which offers a toasty fire.

The rooms

This luxury country suite with high thatch ceilings caters to two discerning travellers. Relax on the sumptuous king-sized bed, with crisp cotton linen and romantically draped mosquito net, for a blissful, undisturbed sleep. If the weather's chilly out, light a cosy fire and spend precious downtime indoors with your loved one. If you're craving a long bath or a refreshing shower, the en-suite bathroom caters to both, while the handy bar fridge allows for late night feasting before bed.

Activities

Challenge your friends and family to a tennis match, or a game of boules. Refresh yourself by taking a plunge in the swimming pool or wading in the pristine rock pools. Adventurous guests can mountain bike and hike across the reserve on gravel roads and paths, or book the famous 5-day Whale Trail hike in advance. More contemplative nature lovers can discover the rich Cape biosphere for themselves, as they brush past fynbos, or walk the vast, deserted coastline.
