Diamonds Mequfi Beach Resort is a recent addition to the string of luxury resorts along northern Mozambique’s dazzling Pemba beaches. The setting is superb, and the luxury rooms and suites overlook a beautiful crescent of golden sand and a large, crystal-clear bay, which is the gateway to the jewel-like islands of the Quirimbas Archipelago. Although it's a fairly large resort, the thoughtful design and clever layout lacks nothing in the way of privacy. There's a choice of accommodation to suit couples and families alike, and the exquisite setting provides a back-to-nature experience without leaving the luxury behind.

The property

The impressive hotel lobby, with its contemporary design, plenty of light and space, and beautiful natural colours inspired by the sand and sea outside, sets the scene for this stylish resort. The enormous swimming pool in the heart of the grounds is undoubtedly the focal point, and the relaxed beach bar and the Brisa do Mar and Assinatura restaurants sit just alongside the water, whilst the elegant Sea You seafood restaurant is just around the corner. Spa treatments are offered in the tranquil Mvua African Rain Spa.

The rooms

There are forty luxurious rooms overlooking the beach in sets of two, which can be interlinked for families. Each room has a private terrace, a beautiful en-suite bathroom, and an outdoor shower. Ten spacious standalone suites have private lounges and double outdoor showers in addition to the vast en-suite bathrooms. Interiors are modern and stylish, with subtle tones to complement the natural surroundings, and all the trimmings you’d expect from a five star hotel – including a butler on request.

Activities

The resort has a fantastic choice of water-based activities, with a dedicated adventure centre to arrange snorkelling, windsurfing, kitesurfing and paddle boarding. Head out to the deeper waters for some fishing or scuba diving, or explore the beaches on horseback. Guided tours of Pemba, and visits to the nearby Mecufi Village add a cultural twist. The spa offers a range of African-style beauty treatments and massage therapy, and there’s a fun-filled schedule of supervised activities for children (whilst you're in the spa!).
