The Dock House is all about understated elegance, from the sparkling chandeliers and plush carpets in the entrance hall to the sleek marble-topped bar, hosted by a variety of suited and booted barmen. Breakfast and lunch is served in the white-tableclothed morning room and guests can choose between OYO and Dash restaurant for dinner, both located in the Waterfront and affiliated with the hotel. There’s also a sumptuous spa if you fancy spoiling yourself.
The six rooms are spacious, sophisticated and utterly blissful. Added designer extras include flatscreen plasmas, Wifi and stylish mini-bars and the ensuite bathrooms are just as swanky with shiny tiled floors and enormous power-showers. We recommend one of the upstairs rooms with balconies overlooking the water or splash out on the suite with its own private garden area. For families and friends, two of the rooms interconnect to make a mini-suite.
Pretty much all of Cape Town’s highlights (and there lots of them!) are within easy reach. 10 minutes in the car will take you up to Table Mountain and Lions Head and to Kloof Street afterwards for a well-deserved coffee and cake (and perhaps a browse around the shops). Another 5 and you’ll be at the powdery-white beaches of Clifton and glitzy bars of Camps Bay. And if you don’t even want to get in the car, the attractions of the V&A are right there.
