There are few things better in life than enjoying a delicious meal cooked over coals, except perhaps enjoying a delicious meal cooked over coals with exceptional views of the Serengeti. Sit around the flickering fire, swapping stories and photographs with newfound friends, and soak in the transition from day to dazzling night, interrupted only by the calls and, roars and harrumphs of nocturnal species emerging to hunt. The camp is solar-powered, and water is sourced from local freshwater springs.

The eight tented suites (family tents are available) offer gorgeous vistas of the plains. The interiors are pretty impressive too, and so well-equipped it's difficult to imagine you're in the wilderness. Warm earthy tones echo the surroundings, each king-sized bed guarantees a good night's sleep and the en-suite bathroom is perfect. Watch the passing parade from your private lounge as you sip your early-morning cup of coffee. Thrill-seekers will enjoy sleeping beneath the stars in the two domed tents.

Exercise all your senses as you follow the tracks, sniff the air and listen for the smallest sounds of the wilderness with the help of an expert guide. If a walking safari isn't your cup of tea, then take in the sights on a morning or evening game drive. Book a hot-air balloon flight for a bird's-eye perspective, followed by a bush breakfast. Whichever adventure you choose, you're bound to see some of Africa's greatest creatures roaming the plains.
