Property details

The property

This smart business-class hotel is well-appointed, with decor that leans toward the modern: clean lines and bright splashes of colour. The outdoor swimming area is a lovely little oasis, the perfect place to recover if you have a day between flights. The two restaurants, coffee shop and bar cover all manner of cravings, from fruit-filled buffet breakfasts and traditional English steak and chips to more regional fare. There's a gym and spa, where guests can book massages, facials and other treatments.

The rooms

With 167 rooms, Eka Hotel is small enough to feel personal and large enough to offer anonymity. It stands just four storeys tall, and the rooms are spread between two main blocks. All rooms have king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, wi-fi access and tea/coffee stations; some offer interleading doors, ideal for larger families or couples travelling together. There are a handful of suites in two classes, junior and executive – the latter double the size of the former.

Activities

Eka meets all your basic requirements, namely, a stress-free interim. With excellent dining options and convenient gym facilities, you won't need to look much beyond the hotel unless you're keen for a taste of this eclectic city. The mall in front of the hotel offers great shopping. From markets and retail outlets to gardens, parks and wildlife refuges, there's plenty to keep you busy. Night life thrums, so chat to the locals or the hotel's concierge service for insider tips.

Something to think about

While all windows are generally sound-proofed, the exterior rooms can pick up some city noise. An interior option is best for zero disruptions as you recover from jet lag.
