



Shaded by towering trees, the slightly elevated lounge and dining areas are decorated in vibrant safari colours and lead on to a spacious veranda overlooking the river. Breakfast and lunch are served on the banks of the river; four-course candle-lit dinners in the dining room. Private meals can be arranged on request. The main area is an ideal place to unwind in the evening with a drink in hand as you listen to the sounds of the wilderness. Wi-fi available.
Elephant Bedroom Camp has just 12 spacious, double tents built on wooden platforms – four with king-sized and eight with queen-sized beds. Each tent is decorated in natural tones with splashes of rich colour in the soft furnishings. There's an en-suite bathroom, complimentary bath products and hot water, and a viewing deck with a private plunge pool, ideal for cooling off after a hot day under the African sun.
Samburu National Reserve is home to more than 900 elephant, large predators (lion, cheetah and leopard), wild dog, rare species such as the Beisa oryx and 450 recorded bird species. Daily game drives are offered in open-sided safari vehicles and guided by accredited safari guides. Bush breakfasts and dinners, picnic lunches and bush walks can be arranged through your guide. Visit local villages, attend a lecture on Samburu culture, and end the day with sundowners on the riverbank.
There's a true sense of blending in with the wilderness here, from the birds drinking at your plunge pool, the mongoose busying themselves around your veranda, and the starlings eagerly cleaning up the crumbs at breakfast. And that's without mentioning the elephants.
Forgo a couple of activities and take some time to enjoy the lodge as it is: you certainly won't be disappointed when the wildlife strolls right past your veranda...
With the roaming animals and the slow, dreamy pace of life, this is a camp that's probably not best suited for energetic youngsters!
