The Serengeti National Park is one of Tanzania's oldest and best-known parks; a spectacular landscape with vast plains and iconic acacia trees. Every year, during the Great Migration, thousands of animals move across the plains; and a unique way to experience this phenomenon is to park yourself in a safari camp right in the migratory path. Situated next to the famous Grumeti River, Elewana Migration Camp is subtle, charming, and packed with game-viewing potential. It's also the place to sit back with a sundowner in hand, as you listen to the sound of hippos wallowing away into the twilight hours.

The camp's 20 canvas tents are luxuriously spacious, and richly furnished with plush leather couches, dark, wooden writing desks and classic safari colours and textures. Behind some curtains is a pleasant en-suite bathroom with double basins and a shower. Wooden french doors open up to your private wrap-around verandah, that provides wonderful views of the surrounding bush. Draw up the canvas windows and fill the room with the grunts of hippos, echoing into the night.
Each tent has its own 360-degree deck, so you'll never miss an opportunity to spot some wildlife; perhaps even from under your duvet!
Make sure to set your alarm early enough for at least one morning game drive, champagne breakfast in tow. The staff will gladly arrange this - or indeed a picnic lunch if that's more up your street.
There are a fair number of stairs to reach most of the tents, so those with limited mobility may want to consider requesting a tent closest to the main lounge area.
Elewana Migration Camp is owned by Elewana collection which are rooted in the concept of harmony, as reflected in their Kiswahili-inspired name. Through the Land & Life Foundation, Elewana is dedicated to fostering the sustainable coexistence between communities and wildlife across East Africa. Shanga, an initiative under the foundation, empowers individuals with disabilities through artistic expression and economic opportunities, epitomising Elewana's commitment to authentic experiences and positive impact.
