About Enaidura Camp

Highly rated guides, a mobile camp, and wildebeest tumbling across the Mara
Enaidura Camp in Kenya's Masai Mara takes its name from the Maa word that makes this region famous – "migration”. This great spectacle, which involves millions of wildebeest, zebra and antelope making their way through the region from July to October, is surely one of the most mesmerising wildlife experiences on the planet. And here it's made even better by two of the best guides in the business, Enaidura's owners Paul and Ping. Both listed on Condé Nast's "25 Best Safari Guides" ratings, the duo and their caring team provide excellent service with an emphasis on thrilling game viewing.

Property details

The property

Since this is a mobile camp, its footprint is minimal. The main area is a simple canvas structure, propped up by wooden poles and left open on three sides to frame the landscape – the wilderness, those wide African skies, and the animals. Canvas chairs face the view; inside, a long wooden table is the perfect place to gather and share experiences over great cuisine. The camp provides simple but comfortable accommodation, with an emphasis on excellent food and service.

The rooms

Six old-school zip-up canvas tents with mesh windows are set generously apart in the woodland. Each has two comfortable twin beds (converted to a double, on request), a storage unit separating the bedroom from the en-suite bathroom (copper basin, hot bucket shower and separate flush toilet). Two additional tents can be set up to accommodate larger private groups. Non-essentials are kept to a minimum, though lighting and charging points are supplied courtesy of solar power.

Activities

Set near the confluence of the Talek and Mara rivers, this legendary area is the setting of that famous and much-filmed event during which of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of wildebeest and zebra plunge into the crocodile-infested rivers to get to the other side. Predators hover, eyes focused on the weaker members of the group. You'll see plenty of interesting interactions (though you'll probably have to share them with other tourists). Hot-air balloon rides give a unique perspective, at extra cost.
