Garonga Safari Camp

The communal area overlooks a watering hole, so there's always something to see. Meals are served privately or at a group table, so guests can be as sociable as they like. The food is very, very good. There's a pool for those hot summer afternoons, a shop for memorabilia, a spa should you need a little pampering and the perfect balance of relaxation and activity throughout.

There are just six tents sleeping 12 guests, so you're sure to have a peaceful stay. The tents overlook a dry riverbed and are spacious and well equipped, with large, draped beds and both indoor and outside showers. Each has a wooden deck complete with a hammock in which to take in the view, lie and read or doze.

Activities include game drives where you may see anything from black rhino to African painted dog, wilderness walks (a favourite here), outdoor bush-baths and, at the spa, aromatherapy and reflexology sessions and the intriguingly named 'honeymoon couple instructional massage'. Sit back and enjoy the fresh bushveld air (not a petrol fume within range as the vehicles here run on bio-degradable fuel), or sleep out on a deck that overlooks the veld (with a hamper of delicious goodies, plenty to drink, a radio and a wash basin and toilet conveniently located nearby).
