The charming main lodge sits on top of a rocky outcrop, with marvellous views over the game reserve. Its design is traditionally African, with rough stone walls, adobe finishes, and raised conical thatched roofs. The open-air restaurant and bar has a stunning stone-walled fire pit overlooking the valley, and there's an outdoor swimming pool fringed by emerald lawns. The adjoining spa has a fabulous heated indoor pool, a granite cave sauna, 11 state-of-the-art treatment rooms, and excellent gym facilities.
There are 15 double or twin thatch and stone bush chalets, and a 2-bedroomed family suite overlooking the reserve, with large private viewing decks to make the most of the spectacular sunsets. The African style extends to the interiors, with exposed thatch and beams, polished timber floors, and wraparound glass panels. All rooms are en-suite, with deep baths, and indoor and outdoor showers, while the family suite has two bathrooms. Modern luxuries include air-conditioning, an entertainment centre with Wi-Fi, a minibar, and a comfortable lounge area.
The focus here is undoubtedly the superb spa and wellness experience, with an extensive choice of pampering treatments to enjoy between safari activities. Guided game drives and bush walks are offered, and the absence of dangerous game makes it possible to explore on foot without a guide if you choose. Expect to see a number of antelope species, white rhino, and fascinating smaller mammals including honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, and if you’re lucky, a rare pangolin.
