Set on a working farm — coffee, bananas, avocados, tropical fruit and cacao — the food at Hacienda Bambusa is fresh and full of flavour. Enjoy traditional dishes like ceviche and empanadas alongside guacamole, garlic sauces and buckets of fresh fruit. The quaint outdoor dining area has striking views of the emerald-green countryside and mountains beyond. You can also enjoy the harvest in the form of spa treatments, like the coffee or passion fruit ritual — relaxation has never come so easily.
The hacienda has eight rooms, all built out of bamboo and clay to preserve the region's traditional architecture. They are all equipped with a King bed draped in fine linens, aircon, and a coffee station with beans come straight from the hacienda's farm (of course!). Bright, hand-crafted decor and artwork lines the walls, offering a splash of colour. The bathrooms are neat and bright with a mosaic-tiled rainfall shower. Certain rooms have their own balcony, while others are shared.
The Hacienda Bambusa has a whole host of on-site activities including nature walks and guided bird-watching (the property is home to over 160 species), mountain biking and horseback rides. On the culinary side of things, you can enjoy a coffee or cacao tasting, or learn a few favourite recipes from the chef. If you choose to venture outside of the farm, the region is known for its adventurous spirit and there are plenty of hiking routes in nearby valleys, ziplining, paragliding and hot air balloon flights.
