Property details

The property

Beneath a canopy of magnificent jackalberry trees, the main tented area faces out across the seasonal river, with open sides leading down to the surrounding bush. Raised decks make the perfect spot to look out for game while tucking in to a delicious meal - the camp is unfenced, and wildlife frequently passes by at close quarters. Between game drives, relax around the swimming pool during the heat of summer, or find a quiet spot in the lounge.

The rooms

Each of the six en-suite canvas tents is beautifully situated along the river, with private decks in secluded spots beneath the trees, and linked to the main area via raised wooden walkways. Spacious interiors with burnished teak floors and vintage decor give a feel of safaris of old, with crisp white linens and opulent drapes adding a romantic twist. Modern comforts, including air-conditioning and electricity, plus an outdoor shower, tick all the boxes for a luxurious safari experience.

Activities

Wildlife is prolific in this region, with large herds of elephant and buffalo, and plenty of general game. Predator viewing in particular is outstanding - lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs are frequently encountered during early morning and late afternoon game drives. Bush walks with highly experienced guides and trackers offer the chance to explore on foot at your own pace. Between activities, enjoy a spa treatment, or simply soak up the sounds and scents of the surrounding bush.

Although Hamilton’s do provide everything for game drives, pack for all kinds of weather, as it can get chilly and very wet even in summer.

Rooms are linked to the main lodge area by raised timber walkways amongst ancient Jackalberry trees. But because the lodge is unfenced and open to the wild, an escort is required to get you to and from your room after dark.
