There is a very distinct impression of contemporary design and an "out of Africa' theme as you arrive at Awali. Water features, ponds and high thatch structures with seductively exposed wooden beams throughout. Natural stone is cobbled along the floors in grey and soft browns, dark hardwood flooring leading you out through the lobby all the way to a reflective infinity pools dividing up different dining and lounge areas surrounded by swaying palms.
There are 160 rooms spread across the resort. Rooms are cleanly furnished with simple chunky wooden furnishings and traditional decor in muted shades of green and brown. Deluxe rooms come with terraces or balconies depending on what floor you are on. Spacious senior suites bump it up a notch with bathroom jacuzzis and a separate lounge area. The singular villa comes with its own private pool and gazebo and can sleep 4 adults and two children.
There is a wide range of choice on offer. Complimentary activities range from windsurfing, kayaking, pedal boats, glass bottom boat trips and snorkeling. For the land lubbers there is yoga, tennis, bike tours, tennis and plenty of beach activities if you don't fancy spending you days working on your tan or indulging in some papering at the spa. And of course there is the golf course, framed by rolling mountains and lagoon waters it is truly beautiful.
