Wide porticos and verandas trace Hlangana's exteriors, providing the perfect spot for a morning coffee or an evening glass of something chilled. A hedge of white roses runs along the edge of the house and vines train the doorways. Inside you'll find intimate lounges furnished with plush sofas, and a large banquet-sized dining room where the daily breakfast buffet is laid out in all its glory. French doors open out onto the brick-laid veranda and luscious views of the garden.
All the rooms are elegantly furnished with quality, hand-selected pieces that make nods to the colonial heritage but are decidedly modern too. Superior Rooms are spacious and light with large en-suite bathrooms with showers and deep baths. Deluxe Rooms are the property's newest addition; they have a good degree more privacy, and large stacking doors open straight onto the garden. The Family Room sleeps four and has a lovely courtyard patio just off the pool. The Honeymoon Suite is the most commodious of all, with an extra living room and private patio and an ensuite with an enormous spa bath.
An obligatory road tripping stop, Oudtshoorn has several winsome attractions for guests staying one or two nights. Visit an ostrich farm to see the town's patron animal and learn the regional history of the birds, or trace part of the R62 Wine Route, stopping off at a number of boutique vineyards to sample their bests. The Cango Caves are also an essential visit for keen geologists or anyone interested in seeing time calcified. The folks at Hlangana are experts on the what and where of regional attractions, as well as the town's best foodie adventures, and are always on hand to help with your itinerary.
