The main area is a tall thatched building with tiled floors and fine furnishings. The lounge and adjoining dining room have a comfortable, if rather formal, atmosphere. The well-stocked cellar certainly lightens the mood, with wine tastings, while an upstairs lounge makes for a quiet reading room. Most activity goes on outside though, with meals often served on the patio or in the garden, and a swimming pool with a spectacular view of the reserve.
Ten spacious suites are clustered on either side of the main area, remarkably private considering their proximity to each other. From each private veranda, large wooden doors lead directly into the thatched bedroom, with its romantic, netted bed and comfortable armchairs. There’s a sitting area with a fireplace, and an en-suite bathroom with a tub, shower and twin basins. All rooms have views of the camp's waterhole, the wetlands and plains, and the mountains beyond. You can feel yourself unwind...
Highlights here are the morning and afternoon game drives in open vehicles. You stand a good chance of seeing the Big Five, giraffe and an unusual diversity of antelope (Entabeni has 55 mammal and 380 bird species). Explore on foot with a guide. At extra cost, and in coordination with other lodges, spa treatments, horse riding and boating are also options. Splash out on a helicopter flip or hot-air balloon ride across the bush. There's a golf course nearby.
