Hotel Cariblue

A true tropical nirvana, Hotel Cariblue has two pools, the largest of which boasts the thatched Congo Bar - you don't even have to leave the pool for lunch! Speaking of which, La Jungla serves a signature medley of Mediterranean and Caribbean flavours, from ceviches and quesadillas to shrimp bowls, all accompanied by live jazz, reggae and Calypso music. Then there's the Surya Spa, where the range of scrubs, wraps and massages using organic ingredients like cocoa, coffee and tropical fruits make treating yourself a dream.

Accommodations range from garden view rooms, which share a pergola and Jacuzzi, to wooden bungalows and spacious suites. Decor-wise, you'll find stunning photographs of the jungle or shoreline on the walls, dark and light wood furnishings, and little details that remind you where you are. The dolphin doorhandles are particularly cute! Wide picture windows let in the (beautiful) views, and most rooms have a private patio too - a lovely spot to enjoy the scenery. The ocean suites have two bedrooms and some even boast direct access to the waterfall pool.

Head down to the idyllic Playa Cocles for some sun, surfing or a dip in the Caribbean and not far away is Punta Uva, one of the best beaches in the world! For adrenalin-seekers, Hotel Cariblue has just the ticket, with adventures including hiking, ziplining, canyoning and swinging through the forest. Or, visit the nearby Cahuita National Park for fantastic walking trails and snorkelling, or meet the indigenous communities in the Talamanca Mountains and learn about the sacred history of chocolate. For something more leisurely, saddle up and cycle along the coast, admiring the views as you peddle.
