About Hotel Des Arts Saigon

A design darling with the sights of old Saigon on your doorstep.
Ho Chi Minh City has long been the stage for era-defining history and glitzy go-getters mingled with perfumed temples. Hotel Des Arts was at once seamlessly stylish - combining a taste of the 1930s with romantic suites and an artistic flair that runs like a fine thread throughout. In the lobby, chandeliers hang like curled ribbons, open bird cages act as decor and tea trays, and an exquisite array of artwork lines the walls. In the heart of Saigon (the energetic city centre), a walk down the sweeping boulevards reveals grand architecture and monuments that recall a sobering past.

Property details

The property

Designed according to Feng Shui, this futuristic hotel has a space for every occasion. Inspired by Vietnam's street food markets, the Saigon Kitchen offers wide palette of dishes to sample. The whimsical Cafe dex Beaux Arts serves high tea or aperitifs to the sound of a grand piano and the moody Social Club provides a hearty menu under 'potion bottle' lights. Enjoy a soothing massage at the award-winning spa or a soak in the glass-walled pool, before sipping on cocktails like 'Saigon by Night' at the bar.

The rooms

The rooms are a delight, with cloud-like beds, hand-crafted couches and rosewood parquet floors topped with suede floral rugs. Massive windows let in views of the gardens and city, which can be enjoyed from the plush lounge. Heavy drapes separate the bathroom, which is decked out with marble counters, tall mirrors and, in the larger rooms, a red Victorian tub. Furnished with simple gold lamps, gilt-framed TVs, a Nespresso machine and oil paintings, the suites are lovely but understated. The Sky Executive Suites have a private reception, exclusive wine evenings and high tea.

Activities

Take a walkabout through history with a visit to the time-worn Reunification Palace, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum, which tells a compelling story, or the War Remnants Museum to learn about the country's tragic struggle. Enjoy a touch of glamor at the Saigon Opera House or sniff out delicious street food at Ben Thanh Market. Experience the city's spiritual side as you visit the exquisite Jade Emperor Pagoda and Saigon's own Notre Dame Cathedral. A cruise along the Saigon River reveals a different side and a few unique sights

Insiders Tip

The bar attracts a pretty trendy crowd and with DJs who stop at nothing to create a buzz, we recommend arriving early if you'd rather enjoy a relaxed tipple.

Although the view is second to none, the hotel pool is on the small side and sits alongside the bar.
