For the hungry, there are three onsite dining options: Ballestas Restaurant, offering elegant Mediterranean and Peruvian-inspired cuisine, the Italian Trattoria, a great option for families and large groups, and Chalana Restaurant at the end of the private dock, serving seafood straight from the water. Back at the hotel, sink into a hammock and watch the flocks of flamingos snacking along the sea shore, lounge at either of the hotel pools, or stroll through the perfectly manicured tropical gardens. There’s also a fully equipped gym and spa with all manner of wellness treatments.
There are 120 rooms and suites with ocean or garden views and comfortable terraces that make the most of the view. All are equipped with an LCD TV, iPod dock and AC, while the enormous beds boast 400 thread-count sheets. All bathrooms have rain shower-heads for a spa-like experience. Décor features modern geometric weavings, bamboo covered walls, and other aesthetic details in a nod to the pre-Incan cultures that once inhabited the area. Oh and did we mention that there are a few suites with private plunge pools, too?
There is no shortage of activity options here, regardless of age or interests! Many of the aquatic experiences are available for free, including paddle boards, kayaks and snorkel gear, and sailboats and bikes can be rented for a small fee. The onsite Venturia office can arrange charter tours, such as sunset sails aboard a 16-metre yacht (cocktails compulsory!) or a 4x4 excursion into the desert dunes for incredible views and stargazing. Visiting Paracas Nature Reserve is, of course, a must and kids can spend the day at the Explorer’s Club, a fully equipped entertainment area with indoor and outdoor activities.
