Surrounded by emerald rice terraces, Kamandalu was built to respect its surroundings and characterised by natural stone finishes and grass rooftops. The resort has a number of dining options: try Alun-Alun for romantic dinners, Petulu for authentic Indonesian cuisine, or the Awana Lounge for a healthy menu of seasonal fruits and veggies grown in the highlands. There are multiple pools to choose from (including one with a swim-up bar) as well as two spas, the Chaya private villa and Forest Spa.
Scattered amongst the greenery, the villas enjoy ethereal views of Ubud's valley and river below. Each has a unique character, but all are warm and bright with netted four-poster beds, authentically-styled furnishings, and bathrooms with either a standing terrazzo or huge sunken tub. Most villas have a private terrace and hand-crafted daybed, while some enjoy their own pool. At certain villas, you can also enjoy a private dinner or BBQ in the garden.
Get to know the artistic scene in Ubud by visiting local artisans, museums and the Ubud Art Market. You can also delve into the culture of the region on a visit to one of the many temples and watch a traditional dance. In the surrounding countryside, there are a number of trekking routes including the famous Campuhan Ridge Walk, as well as meandering cycle routes among the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. The fascinating Ubud Monkey Forest is also worth a visit, where you'll walk amongst hundreds of Balinese long-tailed monkeys.
