About Kazile Island Lodge

Escape to this paradisal Namibian bush lodge with exceptional river views
Kazile Island Lodge is elegantly 'suspended' along the banks of the Kwando River in Namibia. It's simple, minimalist design and ten Meru canvas tents overlooking an idyllic stretch of water, bring you closer to nature than you might ever have felt before. The lodge is only accessible by boat and is set deep in the heart of the Bwabwata National Park's Mangostene forest, with views across the river, expansive floodplains and the famed Horseshoe Bend. Watch the sun rise over the trees as elephants, buffalo, lions, giraffes, zebras and sitatunga (an elusive aquatic antelope) meander across the riverbanks.

Property details

The property

After a long day of exploring, coming back to an open-air lounge that hangs over the Kwando River and offers a cool and spacious area to relax in is just what the doctor ordered. Sit back and chat with friends and family, lose yourself in a quiet book, or recline on the large, outdoor deck, camera at the ready and cocktail in hand, gazing out at Africa's abundant wildlife and listening to birdsong in the trees.

The rooms

Ten Meru-style tents are perched on wooden platforms among the trees, overhanging the tranquil water's edge. Each has an en-suite bathroom and private viewing deck. The clean, minimalistic decor and simple single beds pushed together (or apart) let nature do the talking. Enjoy breathtaking views from the comfort of the viewing deck before retreating to your en-suite bathroom for a refreshing shower. Each room has a fan and a small safe for your laptop and other belongings

Activities

Walk, drive or cruise are the three main modes of exploration on offer, and boy are they great! Boat cruises along the Kwando River allow you to slide quietly past some of Africa's greatest and most beautiful beasts, including hippo, elephant and buffalo, or for an even more intimate wildlife experience, embark on a guided bush walk. Otherwise hop on a comfortable game drive around the Bwabwata National Park, stopping along the way for countless photographs of the African wilderness.
